This is a common question posed to companies selling hidden cameras and surveillance equipment. People are aware that they want a covert camera system, but are not sure what type of camera would best meet their needs.
There are a variety of hidden cameras which include but are not limited to wireless and wired models as well as colored or black and white. There are body-worn hidden cameras, mini hidden cameras, board cameras, professional cameras, baby monitor hidden cameras, dome cameras, usb digital video recorder cameras, and IP cameras.
1).Body worn hidden cameras come as wristwatches, sunglasses, or ball point pens, which can be clipped on one’s jacket or clothing.
These hidden cameras are actually complete mini surveillance systems in which the video can later be downloaded to a computer for viewing. The mini hidden cameras are similar in nature in that they are small mobile cameras that can be easily carried with you. Depending on the battery system, they are usually able to record up to 2 hours before needing recharging.
2).Baby monitor hidden cameras are exactly that. They were originally designed with new mothers in mind so they could keep an eye on the new baby when they had other tasks to do in other parts of the house.
Later they were also found to be very useful as a hidden camera to view how the baby sitter interacted with the baby or child, to ensure there was no abuse or foul play. Others also found these cameras useful for elderly parents requiring sitters and caretakers as well.
3).Hidden cameras, also called nanny cams and spy cams, come in a variety of household objects such as alarm clocks, air fresheners, mirrors, boom boxes, and more. Depending on what the customer wants they can be wired which is usually less expensive to wireless which are the more expensive models. They also come in black and white which is less expensive to the colored hidden cameras which are the more expensive models.
The wireless models come with a rechargeable battery pack which can usually last up to 8 hours. Many of the models especially the black and white cameras allow images even in almost complete darkness while others require some lighting as from a television set or night light. Hidden cameras with high power can catch images up to around 1500 feet and when positioned correctly can catch what is going on in the room and not just a small setting of the room.
4).Dome cameras are basically board cameras set in a dome casing and are used indoors, outdoors, and in low lighting conditions. These domes come in a variety of types from the pro-dome cameras made extremely sensitive to light to the mini-dome camera which is only 3 inches in diameter.
5).Professional cameras are cameras which can be used indoors or outdoors and are fully weatherproof. They are designed to be mounted so that the customer can mount the cameras or cameras where surveillance and protection is most needed.
